PLATTE PEER Group Director, Bader Memorial Park and Dark Island Trail. The Platte PEER Group, is a 501 (c)(3) Nebraska nonprofit organization centered in Merrick County, NE, founded in 2003. It has managed, operated, and made capital improvements to Bader Memorial Park near Chapman for 15 years. In February of 2016, as part of a local coalition of trail supporters, the Platte PEER Group took ownership of a portion of the Dark Island Trail, expanding the trail to 8.5 miles between Central City and one mile south of Marquette. The Platte PEER Group is committed to maintaining and managing public outdoor spaces along the Platte River, which provide recreational and educational opportunities for all to enjoy. We are looking for a full-time Director of the Platte PEER Group. In addition to developing and maintaining existing projects, Bader Memorial Park and Dark Island Trail, the Director will be instrumental in leading and providing vision for future growth and development of the organization. Job Functions: 1. Oversee the daily operation of Bader Park. 2. Manage grounds staff and contractors to ensure that Bader Memorial Park and Dark Island Trail are maintained to best serve the public. 3. Recruit staff, volunteers and interns. 4. Manage all year-round aspects of park and trail public access and use, including crisis and risk management procedures. 5. Create and manage the Platte PEER Group budget, maintain Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for nonprofit organizations; carry out an annual accountant review or audit. 6. Raise and administer funds, including grant application, execution and administration; and solicit and manage donor and user database for all Platte PEER Group projects and activities. 7. Maintain Office regular hours including at least half of the weekends in the summer season. 8. Host schools, camps and special groups; plan and carry out public events. 9. Work closely with the Platte PEER Group’s Board of Directors President in all aspects of mission planning, leadership development, public outreach, organizational governance and fundraising. Desired Qualifications: – Experience in nonprofit organizational leadership; or substantial leadership skills and experience along with a strong willingness to learn about nonprofit organizational management. – The desire and ability to manage many different types of people in safe and respectful use and enjoyment of public outdoor recreational lands. – The desire and ability to program and carry out educational activities on the lands for many different types of people. – Ability to pass background checks. – Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and online media platforms. – A passion and knowledge about the outdoors and the natural environment of the Platte River and surrounding areas. – The ability to make reasonable decisions under ambiguous circumstances. – Working well in groups; have a strong sense of commitment to the regional/local community.
